Factors like geoclimatic changes, soil under fertility, heavy use of pesticides, resistant pests etc. are taking a heavy toll on spice production in India affecting the export market.

Our endeavour in this area is to find an eco friendly plant metabolite formulation which can increase the quantity as well as quality of the spices produced.
As the first application protocol in this field, we are successfully carrying out trials of a specific product termed SPICECURE-C.

CARDAMOM is an important fruit crop of the species Elitteria used as a condiment / spice and forms an important part of the agricultural export kitty, especially in the southern states including Kerala.

The average size of the fruit various from 5.5 – 6.5mm which fetches an average price of 340-370 Rs/Kg. Our initiative concentrates on an eco/natural/biohormone product which can increase this size to 8-12mm so that farmers can get double the price. In addition, the color & freshness of the product is also intended to be enhanced.

This product is a ppm combinational concentration of phytohormones namely phenyl acetic acid, gibberelling and s-adensyl methionine.

They control the signaling path ways dealing with histidine receptor kinases including MAPKK as well as that of repressor protein epitopes including those of DELLA proteins.

The net effect is meant to produce (in cardamoms)
  • Increased fruiting
  • Marginal stem retardation
  • Increased fruit size (upto 8-12mm)
  • Retention of apical absical layer
  • More plastid con (green color)

SPICE CURE-C is farmer friendly as it is :
  • Eco friendly
  • Stimulates new budding & fruiting
  • Cost effective
  • Sustainable

The application of SPICE CURE-C will be supervised and implemented by our project consultation Division - BIOProjectXZ
